Thousand Trails why we said YES.
I will start by saying I know Thousand Trails isn’t for anyone. But for us newbies it provided us with a security blanket. We both work remotely, so having a place we can call home for 2 or 3 weeks at a time is nice. Everyone says when Full Timing you don’t want to rush. So, picking spots that have places to see and things to do within a 2-hour drive is great. A perfect example of this is TT Colorado River in Columbus TX. There is nothing in Columbus to do really but you are about an hour from Austin an hour from Houston and less than 2-hours from San Antonio. So our goal is to explore on the weekends and nights off. We know that some campgrounds aren’t the best. But most of the time we are always going somewhere. Then you have some like Thousand Trails Orlando which have tons of activities to do. We just recently learned to play Pickle Ball. Our goal is to review every TT campground we attend.
We purchased our used membership from membership outlets. Kim was fantastic. We don’t get any kick back and I still recommend her to all my friends that are interested. If you would like her info reach out to us in https://www.soonerthanlaterrv.com/contact-us.
Good Things
If you use it a lot it will save you a lot of money.
Staff at all the campgrounds were super helpful and nice.
Really easy to use and learn.
Bad Things
Some campgrounds are old and have a lot of year rounders.
Customer Service is meh at best.
They are not everywhere.
With that said the Positives outweigh the negatives for us.
Questions we had before we started.
Will it be easy to book year-round? For us it has been. We left Florida in December so before it got too bad. But we have been in Texas for a few months and have places in Arizona and California booked and ready for us in the upcoming months.
How much does it cost? We paid about 4500 for our used membership and under 400 for the Trails collection for the year.
Is it easy to use the website? So, at first, I struggled with it at first. The error messages are weird and don’t make much sense. But eventually you get a handle of them and can book easily. Also calling the campground is a good option. However, calling TT customer service is a joke. Half the time you can’t even get through.
Overall, I think it’s like everything in life. It’s like a buffet you pick and choose what you like and leave what you don’t like behind. We have rebooked places we like over some places we don’t know much about. We have places that we won’t go back to. There are places we like that get bad reviews and places we don’t like that get good reviews. We will try to be very informative with our reviews. We will also tell you about great places to eat and fun hikes and activities.
